Consumption is a photographic exploration of humanity through the food that fuels our daily activities. These photograms, made by placing objects on photographic paper and exposing them to light, capture traces of the food that sustains us.

Each image uses food remains and clear containers. The clear containers represent the variety of ways we package and store our food while serving the additional purpose of allowing the food to sit on the paper without contaminating the photochemistry.

While some of the images contain random mixtures of substances for variety in texture, others utilize common combinations of food. The images in Consumption were created using expired, leftover, or unused food items from my home with the prevention of waste in mind. In a food wasteful society, Consumption asks the audience to see the abundance of food we use each day in a new light.
