Bedroom Portraits addresses spatial identity through environmental portraits. These photographs of myself and my acquaintances depict how college students personalize their living spaces in impermanent quarters.
Throughout a person’s college career, one may live in a variety of spaces depending on their year of study and status as a residential or commuter student. These portraits focus on students who live on-campus or in the surrounding neighborhoods. Despite the limited time in their chosen location (typically 8-12 months), many students decorate their temporary homes with all the comforts of a more permanent residence.
These portraits provide a glimpse into the way college students project their lives and identities into the spaces they inhabit.
